AoT: Strong September traffic

BANGKOK Airports of Thailand reported strong increases in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic at the six airports under its management during September.

Released Wednesday, AoT data shows its airports handled 8,888,754 passengers up 15.13% from 7,720,738 during the same month last year.

Overall, aircraft movements increased 10.52% from 56,761 to 62,733.

inside no 2During the first nine months of the year, Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport welcomed 42.05 million passengers followed by Don Mueang with 26.30 million and Phuket 11.33 million. Chiang Mai Airport handled 6.91 million passengers.

September highlights

Suvarnabhumi Airport registered an increase of 9.34% in international aircraft movements up from 18,974 to 20,747, while domestic movements grew 9.67% from 5,512 to 6,045 movements.

International passenger traffic increased 11.78% from 2,980,562 to 3,331,733, while domestic passengers increased 13.67% from 594,614 to 675,910. Overall, it accounted for a 12.10% increase in passenger traffic from 3,575,176 to 4,007,643.

The second aviation gateway, Don Mueang Airport, recorded a 17.59% increase in international aircraft movements from 5,259 to 6,184. Domestic movements posted an improvement of 5.44% from 12,637 to 13,324.

International passenger traffic increased 34.75% from 673,204 to 907,165, while domestic passengers increased 9.76% from 1,611,315 to 1,768,593.

Chiang Mai International Airport continued to show growth in September. International aircraft movements registered a growth of 11.98% (1,202 to 1,346), while domestic aircraft movements increased 10.57% (3,690 to 4,080).

International passenger traffic grew 12.99% from 130,467 to 147,419, while domestic traffic gained 13.69% from 468,722 to 532,912.

Phuket International Airport registered an increase of 14.00% in international aircraft movements from 3,286 to 3,746, while domestic aircraft movements improved 14.28% from 3,355 to 3,834.

International passenger traffic increased 24.54% from 457,791 to 570,121, while domestic traffic improved 21.27% from 402,528 to 488,137.

Chiang Rai International Airport reported a 13.89% increase in overall aircraft movements from 943 to 1,074, while passenger traffic grew 17.94% from 122,670 to 144,673.

Hat Yai International Airport reported that aircraft movements improved 23.65% from 1,903 to 2,353 in September. Meanwhile, passenger traffic registered a 15.05% increase from 278,865 to 322,091 passengers. inside-no-2.1
