Danang to host golf convention

DANANG Danang will host the 6th Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) a golf travel event that combines a golf tour with meetings, 7 to 13 May next year.

Local media quoted the city’s tourism department vice director, Nguyen Xuan Binh, saying 600 tour operators, golf course managers, travel agency and airline representatives, and tourism managers from 39 countries in the Asia Pacific region will join the event.

“The event will also be an opportunity for buyers and sellers to exchange information about tourism services, destinations, hospitality and conferences relating to the tourism industry.”

Danang and its neighbouring provinces of Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue are popular golf destinations. Course have been designed by Nick Faldo, Greg Norman, Collin Montgomerie and Luke Donald.

Top golf courses include Danang Golf Club, Ba Na Hills Golf Club, Montgomerie Links, and Laguna Lang Co Golf Club.

The event will help to promote Danang as a golf destination and encourage more people to come to the city for golf, the vice director added.

Danang is Vietnam’s third largest city located on the eastern coast, midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Last year, the city logged 4.6 million tourist arrivals, including over 1.2 million international tourists, a 22.4% year-on-year increase. The city’s tourism revenue reached USD558.8 million.
