Trump towers a terror target?

BANGKOK US President Elect, Donald Trump, has properties under development in Southeast Asia (ASEAN) that could ultimately become terror targets.

A report by Bloomberg identifies the worldwide terror risk to buildings branded Trump, once the President Elect takes office in January 2017.

In Indonesia, Trump has licensed his name to MNC Group to build a resort in Bali and another in Lido, 65 km south of Jakarta, already a popular up-scale golf resort

inside no 1Bloomberg points to the 2009, suicide bomb attacks on the JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton in Jakarta that clearly targeted US interests in the country’s high profile hospitality business.

In Manila, a residential Trump Tower is due to be completed in the second quarter of 2017 under a licensing agreement with Century Properties Group Inc.

Once opened, it too could require enhanced security, the report suggested.

Abu Sayyaf, a militant group linked to al-Qaeda, has carried out attacks in the Philippines and specialises in kidnapping for ransom, raising the risk of employees linked to Trump properties being targeted.

The Indonesian development will pin the Trump brand to the Lido Golf Club as well as the Lido Lakes Resort.

According to Golf Asian’s December newsletter, the project will be Trump’s first golf development in Asia.

A new extension to the Bogor toll road will provide direct access to Lido, reducing the drive time from Jakarta to 75 minutes. Lido is located in Bogor City and is 45 minutes from the main Bogor golf course area.

The Trump  golf course, Trump resort, and new carriageway are scheduled for completion in late 2017.
