Island opens walking street

QUANG NGAI, VIETNAM Quang Ngai provincial People’s Committee has recently approved a plan to upgrade the walking street along the coast of Ly Son Island.

Local media reported the walking street would stretch 3 km from Ly Son High School to Ly Son Wharf and will be decorated with lights strung from the street’s trees.

In addition, surrounding areas are popular spots to visit for shopping, a night market, and restaurants serving local dishes, the report said.

The walking street should help to attract more visitors to Ly Son Island by adding an evening attraction.

Last year, Ly Son welcomed 164,000 tourists, including 900 international visitors, the report added.

Ly Son Island is famous for its ancient temples, beautiful mountains and beaches.

The nearest major mainland city to the island is Quang Ngai the provincial capital, which is 133 km from Danang the main gateway to the coastal region.

Quang Ngai is a province on the central coast of Vietnam.
