AoT reports stronger international traffic

BANGKOK Airports of Thailand reports strong increases during April in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic at the six airports under its management.

AoT reported its data, Tuesday, for all of its supervised airports. They served 11,135,422 passengers up 8.75% from 10,239,610 when compared with the same month last year.

The figures showed 5,508,409 passengers disembarked (+9.10% from 5,048,790); 5,555,984 embarked (+8.54% from 5,118,845) and 71,029 passengers were transiting (-1.31% from 71,975).  

Overall, aircraft movements also increased by 5.03% from 64,451 to 67,691.

For the first four months of the year, Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport welcomed 21.21 million passengers followed by Don Mueang with 12.84 million and Phuket 6.09 million. Chiang Mai Airport handled 3.52 million passengers.

April highlights  

Suvarnabhumi Airport registered a slight decrease of 1.75% in international aircraft movements from 21,412 to 21,038, while domestic aircraft movements grew 12.25% from 6,231 to 6,994 movements.

International passenger traffic increased 4.43% from 3,988,704 to 4,165,340. Of that, 2,037,939 were disembarking (+5.63%; 1,929,402); 2,074,516 embarking (+3.69%; 2,000,734); and 52,885 transiting (-9.70%; 58,568). Domestic passengers grew 20.92% from 778,835 to 941,742.

The second aviation gateway, Don Mueang Airport, recorded a 12.23% increase in international aircraft movements from 6,449 to 7,238. Domestic movements posted an improvement of 3.52% from 13,429 to 13,902.

International passenger traffic increased 16.33% from 1,035,417 to 1,204,471. Of that, 601,415 were disembarking (+16.62%; 515,686); 594,577 embarking (+16.39%; 510,859); and 8,479 transiting (-4.43%; 8,872). Domestic passengers increased 4.32% from 1,930,778 to 2,014,163.

Chiang Mai International Airport continued to show growth in April. International aircraft movements registered an increase of 8.74% (1,316 to 1,431), while domestic aircraft movements increased 2.30% (4,222 to 4,319).

International passenger traffic increased 6.40% from 166,986 to 177,674. Of that total, 86,771 were disembarking (+4.85%; 82,758); 89,535 embarking (+9.52%; 81,751); and 1,368 transiting (-44.77%; 2,477). Domestic traffic gained 10.05% from 548,048 to 603,112.

Phuket International Airport registered an improvement of 10.25% in international aircraft movements from 3,952 to 4,357, while domestic aircraft movements grew 11.83% from 3,923 to 4,387.

International passenger traffic increased 13.43% from 687,328 to 779,629. Of that, 375,270 were disembarking (+12.49%; 333,613); 400,052 embarking (+13.22%; 353,330); and 4,307 transiting (+1,018.70; 385). Domestic traffic improved 12.52% from 581,008 to 653,736.

Chiang Rai International Airport reported an improvement of 40.43% in international aircraft movements from 47 to 66, while domestic aircraft movements grew 11.73% from 1,228 to 1,372.

International passenger traffic increased 181.98% from 2,247 to 6,336. Of that, 3,289 were disembarking (+155.75%; 1,286); 3,047 embarking (+217.07%; 961) and zero transiting same as last year. Domestic traffic increased 16.17% from 170,128 to 197,644.
