AirAsia launched its first commercial operations from Kuala Lumpur to Abu Dhabi yesterday, welcoming the new services in a gala ceremony which also launched a new ?free seats? with holidays deal.

Celebrating the new five weekly return services between Malaysia's capital and Abu Dhabi, AirAsia launched a new four-day promotion until the 27th which sees travellers booking selected holiday packages with its in-house wholesaler available to access free flights with AirAsia.

?Abu Dhabi has long been on our network radar and we are very proud to liberalize the market to the world.? The demand for the route has been steady with 60% of the load coming from the UAE,? said Azran Osman-Rani, AirAsia X CEO.

?We have been promoting Abu Dhabi aggressively to Malaysians, across the ASEAN region and even beyond to destinations such as China, Australia and United Kingdom, in fact we have also included Abu Dhabi in our recent promotion campaign; cross selling the market to other destinations.?

AirAsia operates the Kuala Lumpur services through its long-haul arm AirAsia X, in a A340 aircraft with 286 seats, 30 of which fly the XL Premium Seats.

The low cost carrier is aggressively marketing its GoHoliday arm domestically in Malaysia, with the wholesaler?s website offering deals on all destinations the airline flies to.

This current promotion of ?fly for free? with a GoHolidays package is available for travel between the 1st of December, 2009 and the 31st of January, 2010.
