HANOI, May 21 (Xinhua) -- The 3rd session of the 13th Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) opened in the capital Hanoi on Monday.

NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung addressed the opening ceremony, saying that since the 2nd session of the 13th NA, the country has overcome challenges of economic crisis and achieved encouraging results in curbing inflation, stabilizing macro-economy, securing social security, and controlling gold and foreign exchange market.

However, the global and domestic economic situation keep going complicated that would cause difficulties in fulfilling the country's socio-economic development goals in 2012, Hung added.

On the first working day of the session, NA deputies will hear a report by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the implementation of the socio-economic development plan in 2011, and the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget in the first four months of 2012 and measures for the remaining months of the year.

During the one-month session, the 13th NA will review and approve 13 law bills, seven resolutions, and discuss six draft laws.

The session is scheduled to close on June 21.
