BANGKOK, June 28 (Bernama) - Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism and Sports Minister Chumpol Silapa-archa says the government expects to generate up to two trillion baht in revenue from the tourism sector by 2015 once the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Economic Community (AEC) is formed.

He said the European debt crisis has not affected the country's tourism sector, as evidenced by 7 per cent year-on-year tourist arrival growth in the first five months of 2012, Thai News Agency reported.

Some 19.23 million tourists also visited the country last year, contributing to about 776 billion baht tourism-related revenue.
