TAT adds more Apps

BANGKOK, 5 July 2012: The Tourism Authority of Thailand introduced, Wednesday, its latest mobile phone application, ‘Lifestyle Thailand’, targeting a young generation hooked on mobile technology.

The application offers information and promotions on tourism products and services across Thailand linked to eight lifestyle categories.

The Lifestyle Thailand Application features more than 300 high-end tourism products including accommodation, restaurant, attractions, things to do and hot deals.

TAT said the application would be updated monthly to update users on promotions and deals mainly discounts of between 20% and 50%.

“The Lifestyle Thailand Application is designed to attract first-time visitors especially European travellers,” said TAT deputy governor for international marketing – Europe, Juthaporn Rerngronasa. “All these high-end products and services will be grouped into eight lifestyle segments, which will answer travellers need directly,” she added.

Targeted high-end visitors, Ms Juthaporn explained that this application will help TAT achieve its revenue goal of Bt2.2 billion set by government for 2012.

Ms Juthaporn said that the application was soft launched last month and feedback was satisfactory.

“The Lifestyle Application ranks number 7th in tourism category in term of popularity, but we expect that in three months there should be around 30,000 users downloading this application,” said Ms Juthaporn.

Eight lifestyle segments are:

• Chic (shopping centre, night life attractions and luxury products);

• Romantic (products and services for honeymoon couples);

• Breezy (beach destinations and related activities);

• Thainess (products and activities that related to Thai culture);

• Adventure (sport activities both by land and by water);

• Wellness (health and beauty destinations and accommodations); Easy n’ Slow (eco and green tourism);

• Family – features family friendly destinations, activities and services.

Content and photos can be shared through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. The Lifestyle Thailand Application is available free at the App Store or Android market.

“We realise the importance of smartphones and social media sites so TAT will launch more applications to help tourists,” she explained.

TAT has already released 10 applications in the market – Amazing Thailand, Amazing Thailand TTM+ 2011, Green Tourism, Amazing Thailand ITB 2011, Thailand Medical Tourism, Siam Tempo, Amazing Thailand for WTM, ITB 2012 Thailand Booths, Amazing Thailand ATM 2012 and Lifestyle Thailand. All are free.
