Posted Date: Wednesday, 25-Jul-2012

KUCHING: Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud will attend the ‘Inside Investor Forum Asia 2012’ in Doha, Qatar on Oct 8 and 9, a high-profile investor conference that will also see the launch of a brand new investment report ‘Inside ASEAN 2012’ featuring a special focus on Sarawak’s investment landscape.

In a press statement from Kuala Lumpur which was received here yesterday, it mentioned that ‘Inside Investor Forum Asia 2012’ is a premium forum for Asian and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) investors eager to explore the latest investment trends, opportunities, partnerships and portfolio diversification strategies in order to achieve long-term economic growth.

About 500 senior level executives will be attending the high-profile event in Doha, representing a broad range of economic sectors and regions.

The focus of the event will be on Banking and Finance, Food Security and Halal Industry, Energy and Resources, Green Investments and Technology, Real Estate, Transport and Infrastructure, Education and Healthcare.

The ‘Inside ASEAN 2012’ report is a comprehensive 350-page guide on investment opportunities in Asean countries targeted at a high-profile public and private audience from all over the world with a special focus on investors from the GCC countries, published by international media group and consultancy ‘Inside Investor’.

The report contains a special focus on Sarawak that features in-depth overviews on key industries and analyses on major economic and infrastructural developments in the state along with interviews of prominent personalities from the public and private sectors.

It is compiled by experienced researchers and journalists over months to help investors identify opportunities in the state in various fields such as Manufacturing and Industry, Technology and Innovation, Energy and Resources and Tourism and Hospitality.

“Sarawak has undergone a tremendous tangible development over the last years, thanks to its investor-friendly climate, its political stability and its healthy economic growth.

“The state has attracted more than RM40 billion in investments from national and international companies over the last three years. As we are also shifting towards an industrialised state that increasingly incorporates new technologies, value-adding activities and entrepreneurial ventures, an orientation guide such as ‘Inside ASEAN 2012’ on new opportunities is of great importance and support for us and for investors alike,” Taib said.

Interviews for the Sarawak chapter of ‘Inside ASEAN 2012’ have been conducted with Minister of Housing and Tourism Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, chief executive officer of Sarawak Tourism Board Dato’ Rashid Khan, chief executive officer of Sarawak Energy Bhd Torstein Dale Sjotveit, managing director and chief executive officer of state Forest Dept Ali Yusop, managing director of Comserv Andre Suharto, chief executive officer of Sarawak Common Communication Facilities (Sacofa) Dato Abg Jemat Abg Bujang and Akira Sanuki the president and managing director of Tokuyama Malaysia.

The report Inside ASEAN 2012 will also be available for purchase from the online store of Inside Investor’s website ‘store.insideinvestor.com <http://www.insideinvestor.com>’.

The publication is also distributed to the six GCC countries – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates and to selected clients, partners and institutions in Malaysia and other Asean countries as well as to international financial institutions and key decision makers.
