BANGKOK, 14 August 2012: Minor Hotel Group has taken over a hotel on Layan Beach Phuket giving it three hotels and eight properties in its South Thailand portfolio.

The latest acquisition cost the group Bt3 billion for the former Bundarika Villas & Suites. The price included funds for refurbishment and initial preparation of a 12.5 acre adjacent hillside plot that will be developed for high-end residences.

Located on Layan Beach on Phuket’s Northwest coast, the Bundarika Villas & Suite will close this month for renovations and will be re-introduced to the market in September 2013 as the Anantara Phuket Layan Resort & Spa.

The Bundarika Villas & Suite is 14 km from the Phuket Airport and has just 77 villas and suites.

The Minor group already owns the Anantara Phuket Villas (83 rooms) and JW Marriott Phuket (265 rooms) both on Mai Khao Beach, just north of the airport.

Minor Hotel Group (MHG) is a hotel owner, operator and investor with a portfolio of 39 hotels and 38 serviced suites under its own Anantara brand or managed by international partners such as Marriott, Four Seasons and St. Regis. It has properties in Thailand, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Tanzania, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. It has also introduced AVANI to complement MHG’s five-star Anantara brand, which has 19 properties and another 50 properties in the pipeline.
