Singaporeans seek in-flight WiFi

Singaporeans are prepared to pay for their most desired form of in-flight entertainment, WiFi, new research has revealed.

42 percent of passengers would happily pay to access the internet at 30,000 feet, according to survey results released by Skyscanner.

More than a quarter of respondents said they would fork out cash for access to live television, but 35 percent would happily part with their hard-earned dollars to watch their favourite film mid-air.

Video games also proved popular with a quarter of those surveyed.

In-flight comfort was clearly important to Singaporeans, with 60 percent of respondents prepared to pay for additional legroom and almost half would pay to sit in a two-person seat row.

The research also revealed women were prepared to pay more in almost every category.

“We’re not surprised to see that WiFi is in such high demand with travellers, as this reinforces some of our recent research on the social media habits of travellers, many of whom aim to stay connected every day when they go away,” Skyscanner spokesman Sam Poullain said.

“However it’s clear that on the comfort front, additional legroom is still in demand and many people will choose to pay extra for this to improve their in-flight experience.”
