Thailand lands more international visitors

Thailand has welcomed 19.04 percent more international arrivals during January and April this year, compared to the same period last year.

According to Ministry of Tourism and Sports data, up to 8.841 million trips were registered into the country during the first four months of the year, up from 7,427 million in 2012.

Delivering the highest number of growth, Chinese arrivals increased by 91.05 percent during the first four months compared to the same period last year, from 214,689 to 410,173.

Following the Chinese market, Malaysian arrivals increased by 6.13 percent to 839,129 from 790.686 while Russian visitors jumped 29.91 percent from 564,555 to 733,437.

Resuming travel after the 2011 quake and tsunami, Japan arrivals increased 19.16 percent from 436,747 to 520,415.

Although maintaining its place in the top ten arrivals, Australian visitors fell by 1.69 percent during the first four months from 295,042 to 290,042.
