PCB retires Perth Event Show partnership to focus on international and national markets

After a three year contracted involvement, the Perth Convention Bureau (PCB) will retire its partnership with CMS Events' Perth Event Show.

“The Perth Event Show was developed some five years ago, at a time when PCB was considering changing its charter to support local, State-based events.  This change did not eventuate, and as such PCB’s charter remains solely the capture of international and national events and conferences”.

The Perth Event Show has developed to encompass a diverse range of exhibitors from across the WA events industry, and its majority audience is local, WA State-based events and meetings.

“PCB looks forward to joining industry at the next Perth Event Show, but for the benefit of our members and industry, our funding must be directed solely to promoting our State as a conference destination in the national and international market place”.

Our expanded footprint and new stand at AIME Melbourne and IMEX Frankfurt are examples of this external focus."  Mr Beeson said.

CMS will review the branding and marketing of the event. “The industry and CMS themselves have invested heavily in the show, the opportunity to realise a return on this investment will be available next year in a refined event format.” Mr Beeson said.

The Perth Convention Bureau is responsible for marketing Perth and Western Australia as a business tourism destination. Last year it secured business events that will require more than 240,000 hotel room nights and inject more than $101.1 million into the Western Australian economy.
