ADRIZZLE did not deter the public, including foreign tourists, from flocking to the Colours of 1Malaysia 2013 tourism carnival held at Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, who was accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah, launched the carnival themed “Visit Malaysia Year 2014 — Celebrating 1Malaysia Truly Asia,” organised by the Tourism and Culture Ministry.

Also present was Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz.

The carnival saw about 100,000 local and foreign tourists as well as 248 MegaFam participants from 23 countries including Brunei, Thailand, Cambodia, Germany, New Zealand and Canada mesmerised by the local cultural performances.

Australian Richard McGallen, 38, praised the ministry for organising the carnival.

“The cultural performances were awesome. This definitely makes my visit to Malaysia a memorable one,” he said.
