Promenada Resort Mall Chiang Mai celebrates its first-phase opening with line-up of celebrities, entertainment and special promotions

CHIANG MAI – Promenada Resort Mall Chiang Mai marked its opening with a three-day-long festival of spectacular musical performances, big-name stars, the greatest shops, brands and promotions, and displayed of local artistry and entertainment. The opening event emphasised Promenada’s unique “More than just shopping” concept to Chiang Mai, the largest and most culturally significant city in Northern Thailand.

The first resort-style shopping mall in Thailand opened with the presence of VIPs, celebrity guests and a throng of shoppers and people from Chiang Mai. The extensive program of events featured an exclusive ‘meet and greet’ with Uniqlo ambassadors Yaya and Dome, in addition to Uniqlo’s “Spring and Summer” fashion show to mark the launch of its new store at Promenada. The Promenada Opening Ceremony welcomed H.E. Mr. Joan de Boer, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, and a performance by Ger Vos, “The Voice” from the Netherlands.

J-Jetrin was the headline act at a special mini concert on the opening evening, with large crowds in attendance for the musical performance and live DJ show. This opened the stage for live performances by local bands, cover dance and fashion shows throughout the weekend.

The completion of Promenada has been highly anticipated, with the opening weekend presenting an opportunity to explore the first of two buildings and much of the outdoor park areas. The second phase of Promenada is due to open on 12 July 2013, with the official Grand Opening event scheduled for around September 2013. When the mall is fully open, Promenada’s tenant mix and entertainment offering will be amongst the most diverse and sophisticated in Asia, including the debut of many brands coming to the North of Thailand for the first time. SF Cinema City’s 8-screen theatre would be available from the opening weekend, with the 720 sq. metre ice rink to open with phase two in July.
