SHANGHAI - The director of Shanghai port service office Zhang Chaomei revealed that Shanghai port served 8.222 million inbound and outbound passengers from January to April this year, up 4.1%. 148,000 passengers came via shipping port, up 118.2%, and cruise passengers increased by 244.5% which showed rapid development momentum of cruise industry.
Chen Xiaoguang, deputy director of Shanghai maritime bureau said: ”Shanghai port is expected to receive 190 international cruises this year, an increase of 57.7% compared to last year. Only a few cities around the world own two cruise terminals. Shanghai is one of them and Shanghai plans to build a third cruise terminal in Baoshan.”
