HONG KONG / MANILA - It was a proud moment for Genting-Star Tourism Academy (GSTA) when its culinary students Gene Hansel Viterbo and Tahani Bautista triumphed at the Electrolux Discover-E Student Cook-off held on June 15 and16 at the NBC Tent, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Out of 40 entries, Gene and Tahani’s Neo-Filipino’s recipe for “Kare Kare Ravioli” made it to the Top 12 competing in the elimination round. The team went head to head with other culinary institutions such as Malayan Colleges Laguna, Centro Escolar University, and University of Santo Tomas. During the grand finals, the team’s three-course ensemble of Mussels Wrapped in Bockchoy leaves, Kare Kare Ravioli and Maja Blanca swept judges -celebrity chefs Rosebud Benitez-Velasco and Bruce Lim- off their feet.
Leading the team to victory were GSTA’s seasoned trainers Chef Jake Enriquez and Chef Maui Batucan, who both acquired masterful industry experience and expertise onboard various ships of Star Cruises.
