Best Western grows in Greater Jakarta

BANGKOK - Best Western International has continued its rapid expansion in Indonesia with the signing of a new hotel in the bustling business hub of Tangerang, West Java.
Set to open in the fourth quarter of 2013, the new BEST WESTERN Serpong is designed to cater for the increasing number of travelers demanding quality, international-standard accommodation in the Greater Jakarta area.
The seven-story hotel adds 196 modern rooms, including 12 suites, to BWI’s collection in the area, providing more options for both domestic and international business travelers.
“West Java is booming. Jakarta and its fast-emerging satellite cities, such as Tangerang and Bogor, are becoming key business hubs in Southeast Asia. Best Western is delighted to be able to serve this fast-growing market with a range of modern, quality business and leisure hotels,” said Glenn de Souza, BWI’s Vice President International Operations – Asia & the Middle East.
“We are currently undertaking an unprecedented period of expansion in Indonesia, which will see us more than quadruple our collection of hotels in the country over the next few years. Included in this will be at least seven properties in the Greater Jakarta region.
“As this area expands further in the years ahead, Best Western will be there, growing along with it,” Mr. de Souza added.
The BEST WESTERN Serpong was built in 2012 and offers a selection of contemporary rooms and suites, all with flat-screen LCD TVs with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, minibars, tea and coffee making facilities and private balconies.
The hotel will also offer a range of facilities, including a fitness centre, outdoor swimming pool and two food & beverage outlets – the Lotus Restaurant and Edelweiss Bar & Lounge.
BWI currently operates one hotel in the Greater Jakarta area, the BEST WESTERN Mangga Dua Hotel & Residence, but the company is planning to launch at least seven more properties in the area between now and 2015. Overall, BWI’s Indonesian portfolio is expected to increase from five to almost 25 hotels in the coming years.
