April international visitor arrivals figures show that the boom in foreign travellers is giving no indication that it's slowing down, increasing by a massive 16% for the month on report.
Mainland Chinese figures are still strong growing 18.5%, nearly a fifth, more than the same 30 days in 2009, up to 7.2 million travellers for April alone.? But it's not just China showing great results, with North Asia and Southeast Asia also recovery strongly, up 19.1% and 14.5% respectively.
"As the global economic environment improves and business activities pick up, the number of business travellers has increased, leading to a rise in arrivals from the regions," said the Hong Kong Tourism Board in a statement.
"Meanwhile, the emerging markets continued their upward growth trend," it continues. "As for the long-haul markets, most market regions registered steady growth compared to the same period in 2009."
While the Eyjafjallajokull eruptions in Iceland disrupted European flights for a short period, the tourism body notes that there was "no major impact" on overall figures for the region.
