Lake in deep trouble

SIEM REAP: Trails of Indochina’s country manager Cambodia, Trevor Lake, was arrested, last Tuesday in Siem Reap, on suspicion of purchasing sex from two teenage girls.

The 65-year-old Australian national was hired as country manager Cambodia for the well-known Vietnam-based inbound tour company, in March 2013. Prior to thst he was the owner of Discover Asia for nearly nine years.
He was arrested following an investigation by anti-human trafficking police, according to senior police official in Siem Reap.

Anti-paedophile NGO Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE) said in a news release that police apprehended the suspect , Lake, after one of the teenage victims alleged he paid her to have sex with him.
“While searching his apartment, police found pornographic images and video footages of Lake having sex with the girls,” APLE stated.
According to Cambodia Daily, that broke the story, two laptops, three cameras and two external hard disks that police claim belonged to Lake, were confiscated for further analysis.
The newspaper was quoting details released by Action Pour Les Enfants.
APLE said the two girls were 16 and 17.
Police said they would charge the suspect with production of child porn, a charge that carries a 10-year jail term if convicted.
APLE, an NGO active in the fight against sex tourism in Cambodia assisted police to investigate and arrest the suspect.
According to APLE, there are possibly many more victims to be identified from the seized images and concerned agents are working with police to determine if there was any distribution of the pornographic materials online.
Cambodia launched an anti-pedophilia operation in 2003 in a bid to end its reputation as a haven for child sex offenders. Since then, dozens of foreigners have been imprisoned for child sex crimes.
Trails of Indochina has since named David King as its country manager Cambodia and removed all references of Lake from their website and online documents that describe the company’s regional management team.
