The Authority for Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap (APSARA) said over 1.23 million foreign tourists visited the Angkor temples, a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, in the first seven months of this year, up about 2 percent if compared to the same period last year.

From January to July 2015, the revenue from Angkor ticket sales was some US$35 million, down 0.10 percent, pointed out the APSARA National Authority in a press release made public yesterday evening.

In July alone, it added, the number of foreign visitors to the Angkor Archeological Park was recorded at 153,959, an increase by 4.96 percent from that in July 2014, generating a revenue from entrance ticket sales of more than US$4.3 million, up 4.28 percent.

The entrance fees to the Angkor temples and monuments in Siem Reap area for each foreign tourist is US$20 for a one-day visit, US$40 for a three-day visit and US$60 for a week-long visit.

The Angkor Archeological Park is one of the main tourism attractions in Cambodia beside the coastal areas in the southwestern part and the eco-tourism sites in the northeastern part of the country.
