The first Asia-Pacific Local Champions Exhibition has been taking place in Phnom Penh from Aug. Aug. 10-12 at the Royal University of Agriculture.

Organized by Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) and PROCASURE, the three-day event attracted over 100 outstanding farmers and project officials from Cambodia, Bangladesh, Laos, Nepal, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

There are in total 18 booths at the exhibition displaying agricultural products, fishing tools, daily products and foods, etc.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on Aug. 10, Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Ouk Rabun said the expo provides opportunities for outstanding farmers not only to show their best practices and technologies born from endurance, but also to exchange their experience and build network to promote rural and agricultural development in their respective countries.

A field trip to Cambodia’s Takeo province to strengthen the know-how of participants on local knowledge management and on scaling up local solutions is also part of the event, added H.E. Minister.
