Thmor Sor: Fresh air, delicious seafood

A small beach hidden at the heart of a forest and plantation, located in Koh Kong province’s Botum Sakor district, Thmor Sor has become an attractive tourist destination for people who like eco-tourism and delicious seafood, which arrives fresh from fishing boats.

An added bonus – people waiting for the boats to come back to shore do not have to worry about chemicals.

The Thmor Sor coast or simply Thmor Sor has become a destination for tourist from far away, especially those who are sick and tired of the cramped atmosphere of Phnom Penh and other urban areas.

They come here to relax in the shade of coconut trees and breathe fresh ocean air, which, like a natural medicine, heals them from stress.

“I feel really fresh when I came to visit here. All tired feelings of stress from work went away, replaced by a feeling of peace and freshness,” said Heng Tiang Muy, a tourist from Phnom Penh.

“On top of that, this place offers fresh seafood that just arrives by fisherman’s fishing boats. The food tastes very delicious and not to worry about chemical.”

Travelling as a team of 10 people, they rented a car to visit Thmor Sor and stayed there for three days and two nights over the weekend.

Muy, who is in her 30s, was very pleased with the environment and views here. Besides relaxing in the fresh air of Thmor Sor, they also casted nets and fished contentedly.

Pha Somrith, a professional photographer said: “I have been to Thmor Sor three times already. I always miss the place. I love coming here beside eating fresh seafood such as crab, shrimp, lobster and fish.

“I also can cast my own fishing nets, plant fishing traps, and go fishing in the area. The freshly caught fish was delicious. I really like it.”

Tourists who have travelled to Thmor Sor can rent fishing boats to sail along the coast and visit some beautiful islands – and they can enjoy some fishing on the boat too.

Plenty of seafood

Due to the naturally favourable conditions, along with careful preservation and maintenance from the nearby land owners, Thmor Sor has remained one of Cambodia’s most beautiful coastal areas.

The beach is approximately 200m long, and with its soft sands, warm water and beautiful green coconuts plantations, Thmor Sor has become one of the most attractive beach destinations for national and international tourists alike.
