THAI vice president, Surapol Isrankura na Ayutthaya, said the ongoing political unrest in Hong Kong had forced the airline to close the office until Sunday for the safety of the staff as it is located in the area near the rally site.
The airline operates four daily flights between Thailand’s capital and Hong Kong.
The THAI office is located in Admiralty district, one of the protest sites of pro-democracy demonstrators led by students.
The Hong Kong protests are adopting similar tactics as seen during the Bangkok’s civil unrest, earlier this year, that closed the city for months and eventually forced the Thai military to step in.
