Vietjet to serve Vladivostok

HANOI The budget carrier, Vietjet Air, plans to launch services between Hanoi and Vladivostok in Russia next May.
According to the airline, the route connecting the far eastern Russian city and Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, will start with three weekly flights in May 2015 with a flight time of five hours and 30 minutes.
In the long-term the airline plans to serve Vladivostok from Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Danang, Hue, and Phu Quoc in a bid to attract Russian tourists from the far eastern coastal region, who are mainly seeking beach holidays.
Vietnam and Russian have a long history of cooperation dating back to the cold war years when the only tourists to Vietnam were from the former USSR and Russian was taught in schools throughout Vietnam.
inside no 4Earlier this year, Vietjet Air signed an agreement with the Vladivostok International Airport during the 17th session of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation in Vladivostok.
The airline will also sell the Vladivostok service in Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia offering a one-stop link to the eastern seaboard port city.
