BANGKOK A new content deal signed between Amadeus and low-cost airline, Thai Lion, will give travellers worldwide a channel to book low fares to Thailand’s popular holiday destinations.

More than 30 million international tourists visited Thailand last year and according to the country’s research more than 60% will return for a second or third trip.

Familiar with the destination they will search cheap flights and the latest Amadeus agreement will ensure they can book the best fares on 17 Thai Lion routes through the Amadeus network of travel agents, worldwide.

Amadeus Asia Pacific executive vice president, airline group Turkey & eastern Europe, Hazem Hussein added: “We are very pleased to add another airline from the Lion Air Group to our distribution family. Thai Lion Air joins more than 480 airlines that sell their content through our travel agency network.”

“Amadeus partners with more than 90 low-cost and hybrid carriers today, making 80% of total global LCC and hybrid seats available in Amadeus. Low-cost and hybrid carrier bookings in the Amadeus system increased an average of 16% year-on-year throughout 2016.”

“There’s a growing demand for more affordable ways to fly to and within Thailand…the domestic market is well aware of these options, but the international market less so, and this is why our agreement with Amadeus is significant. Their ability to connect us with a network of travel agents will put us in a strong position to  target the international market,” said  Thai Lion Air managing director, Captain Darsito Hendroseputro.
