MJ Airlines to begin operations this year

MJ Airlines, a local startup carrier, will have its first flight before the end of the year, according to a company representative.

The airline is now applying for the air operator’s certificate (AOC), Solene Arnould, the airline’s public relations and branding manager, said yesterday.

“We are now in the process of obtaining the AOC and expect to have our maiden flight by the end of 2018,” she said.

“We will be based in Siem Reap and will focus on international destinations, not on domestic flights,” Ms Arnould said.

“Our aim is to become a bridge connecting international markets to Southeast Asia,” she said, adding that the company will use two Airbus aircrafts.

According to its Facebook page, MJ Airlines, who is described as a budget carrier, will focus on routes connecting China with Southeast Asia.
