The National Bank of Cambodia and Visa yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding to extend their partnership to improve financial literacy in the country.

During the partnership signing ceremony, the Central Bank presented to the public ‘NBC-Edu’, a new mobile app developed with Visa that seeks to tackle financial illiteracy.

“Through this partnership we seek to improve financial literacy in students, from primary school to high school, by updating the national curriculum next year,” Ms Serey said.

“NBC and VISA will continue to work together to boost financial literacy and financial inclusiveness, reduce poverty and bolster economic growth,” she added.

“We are looking forward to continuing this work with the National Bank of Cambodia,” Monika Chum, country manager for Visa Cambodia, said.

“We believe that having a good sense of financial literacy is one of the keys to economic sustainability – not only for individuals, but also for families and communities. It is with this in mind that Visa started running financial literacy programmes over 20 years ago.
