The Phnom Penh Post has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korean news website Incheon Ilbo (Daily), in a landmark agreement aimed at improving information and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

The MoU was signed in Phnom Penh on Friday between The Post’s CEO and publisher Ly Tayseng and Incheon Ilbo (Daily) president Hwangbo Eun.

As part of the agreement, the two publications will exchange business, cultural, sports, art, and tourism news, as well as cooperate in the dispatch of reporters to cover news in both nations.

Reputation and popularity

During the meeting Tayseng spoke of The Post’s reputation as Cambodia’s largest and most popular news outlet, emphasising to his South Korean counterpart the publication’s large domestic and international readership and the international awards it had won.

Tayseng also spoke of The Post’s popularity among the South Korean business community in Cambodia, and expressed hope that the initiative would help promote Cambodian news and development opportunities among South Koreans.

“We are aiming to improve information exchange between the two countries as a result of this MoU. We are keen to raise Cambodia’s profile among the people of South Korea,” Tayseng said.
