Newly established budget airline Jetstar Japan will utilise Kansai International Airport as its second base for operations from October 2012, according to company president Miyuki Suzuki.

The low-cost-carrier, affiliated with Japan Airlines and the Qantas Group, has already been recruiting pilots, cabin attendants and aircraft maintenance engineers for its Kansai-based operations, according to the Japan Times.

Jetstar Japan began flights from its primary base at Narita Airport in July this year.

The inaugural flight between Kansai and Naha, Okinawa will depart on October 28, 2012.

The airline plans to operate ten roundtrip services on four different routes by December 2012, according to Ms Suzuki.

Ms Suzuki also informed Kansai Airport president, Keiichi Ando, of the need to develop more low-cost carrier facilities at the Osaka airport.
