More than a year after announcing it would drop the Blue in its title for a new airline direction, Virgin Australia says its ‘Game On’ as it prepares to launch the next phase of its Game Change Program.
Unveiled in its preliminary financial results this morning, the carrier’s chief executive John Borghetti said the airline was “confident” the carrier was ready to unveil the next step in its evolution, which will include new innovative product and service enhancements to deliver “superior” customer experiences.
According to Mr Borghetti, Virgin will also utilise growth opportunities in its frequent flyer program, Velocity, to reach its set five million members target within the next three years while its global products will also step into the forefront to capture an additional $150 million per annum in interline and codeshare revenue by the end of financial year 2015.
“The Game On phase of the Game Change Program will ensure a sustainable future for Virgin Australia by enabling us to capitalise on our competitive advantages and drive new growth opportunities for the business, while retaining the flexibility and agility to adapt to the changing market,” he said.
Other changes over the next phase will also include the implementation of a three-year business efficiency program to deliver productivity gains of up to $400 million by end of the financial year 2015.
Earlier today, Virgin announced it had returned to profits this year, with a $90.6 million growth on statutory profit after tax made during the prior financial year.
