Thai AirAsia to Wuhan

BANGKOK, 30 August 2012: Thai AirAsia announced, Wednesday, it  will launch a daily service to Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province in Central China 19 October.

It will be the only carrier operating a schedule service on the Bangkok-Wuhan route. Currently it flies to three cities in mainland China: Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chongqing.

Thai AirAsia CEO, Tassapon Bijleveld said that the Chinese market is a key target for AirAsia, this year and claims the Bangkok-Chongqing route, established earlier this year, gained an average cabin factor of 80%.

“We opted for Wuhan as our latest destination as it is a gateway to central China…We are confident that the route will be popular. It is a city of rich history featured prominently in the epic tale ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’ and is also home to many travel worthy sites…The city is also well connected to neighboring areas, making it a great jumping off point” said Mr Tassapon.

To introduce the new service, the carrier will sell a one-way promotional fare at Bt1,590, inclusive of taxes and surcharges from today until 5 September for travel 19 October to 22 May next year.

The Wuhan-bound flight will depart Bangkok at 0715 and land at 1135. The Bangkok-bound flight will depart at 1220 and land at 1510.

Earlier, Thai AirAsia announced it would start a four-weekly service to Mandalay in Myanmar 4 October.
