Gulf Air will resume services to destinations in Iraq and Iran from September this year, enabling greater connectivity for travellers to and from Saudi destinations, according to Gulf Air senior manager sales Bahrain/Saudi Arabia Yahya Ali Buali.

Bahrain’s national carrier will fly to eight principal ports in Iraq and Iran; Al Najaf being the first destination to re-open on 20 September with four weekly flights, followed by Baghdad on 21 September.

“All of our eight Iraqi and Iranian destinations are easily accessible from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah with less than two hours transit time in Bahrain,” Mr Ali Buali said.

“This is especially ideal for our business travellers as the schedules allow comfortable daytime travel enabling their businesses to expand further into these two countries.”

Al Najaf, Erbil, Mashhad, Tehran and Basra will offer four weekly flights; Baghdad and Isfahan will return with three weekly services; and Shiraz will fly passengers 5 times weekly.
