BANGKOK, 20 September 2012: National Tourism Organisations in ASEAN, with just the except of Singapore, have all agreed to participate in the 12th Thai International Travel Fair, 14 to 17 February 2013 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.
Thai Travel Agents Association president, Suthiphong Pheunphiphop, told TTR Weekly after a visit to the 8th International Travel Expo 2012 in Ho Chi Minh City and a trip to Phnom Penh, national tourism organisations in ASEAN, had confirmed participation in the TITF next year.
“Since beginning my term as a president, I and other association officials have travelled to member countries of ASEAN to build partnerships,” said Mr Suthipong.
He added that the private sector has to take the lead and not rely on governments.

“Our ministry is slow and passive. High ranking officials need to change their attitude and stop being so arrogant to believe Thailand is superior. They need to sincerely work with neighbours,” he added.
TTAA has visited Malaysia, Brunei, Malaysia, Vietnam and Cambodia. Next on the agenda is a visit to the Phillippines, scheduled for 2 to 6 October.
