Japan Airlines (JAL) and British Airways (BA) new business venture will add flexibility, improved links and revenue sharing capabilities on applicable flights between Europe and Japan.
From the beginning of October both airlines customers will benefit from a greater selection of flights to more destinations, enhanced frequent flyer programs and the potential for new routes.
“We are looking forward to creating more customer benefits with this deeper level of cooperation with our long-time partner, British Airways,” Japan Airlines president Yoshiharu Ueki said.
“Together with the inauguration of JAL's brand new seats and services between Narita and London from January next year, we hope to offer our customers an even greater travel experience than before.”
Both JAL and BA are members of the oneworld alliance.
JAL and British Airways began codesharing on flights between Tokyo and London in September.
Planned improvements to flight transfers, website developments, customer check-in, online booking, flight information access and a further expansion of codesharing arrangements are expected in the future.
“This new venture heralds a bigger and better service for our customers and the promise of greater co-operation in the future,” British Airways parent company IAG chief executive Willie Walsh said.
