Although the alliance still awaits regulatory approval, Emirates and Qantas are looking to further their relationship to include the airline’s Singapore-based, Jetstar Asia.
Announced at a conference in Singapore this week, Emirates vice president for route planning Anand Lakshminarayanan said the carrier believes there is a “lot of potential” in Jetstar Asia, however, discussions could not commence until the tie-up with Qantas has been granted, The Australian reported.
If the arrangement were to include Jetstar Asia, it would give the UAE airlines access to 280 weekly return flights during peak to 26 destinations in 13 countries across the Asia-Pacific region.?
Mr Lakshminarayanan made no mention of including Jetstar’s Australian operations in the relationship.
