Vietnam welcomed around 5.35 million foreign visitors in the first ten months of this year, a year-on- year increase of 11.2 percent, reported the Vietnam General Statistics Office (GSO) on Thursday.
Of the total, 4.47 million visitors arrived by air, 60,000 by sea and 821,000 by land. Those came for business purposes rose by 17.4 percent, for family visits up 16 percent, and for holidays up 8.7 percent.
During the period, the number of visitors from South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, France, China, Cambodia and Australia increased remarkably.
The Vietnamese tourism sector set a target to attract 6.5 million foreign visitors and 32 million domestic tourists this year, earning about 150 trillion Vietnamese dong ($7.19 billion).
