AirAsia Increases Flight Frequency from Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi

AirAsia, the world’s best low cost airline for four consecutive years, announced today that the airline is increasing its flight frequency from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Hanoi (HAN) from 7x weekly to 10x weekly.

The new frequency which will begin from 22 January 2013 now has flight AK 1440 which departs Kuala Lumpur at 6.30pm and arrives in Hanoi at 8.30pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in addition of the daily flights that is currently being offered. In conjunction with this great news, AirAsia is offering a special promotion with all-in-fares from as low as RM126* one way from Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi. Guests are able to book this special fare from now until 18 November 2012 for the travel period from 22 January to 25 May 2013.

Guests planning to travel to Hanoi prior to 22 January 2013 can also enjoy the Hanoi Winter Special promotion with all-in-fares from as low as RM199* one way for the travel period between 5 November 2012 and 21 January 2013. Booking period for the promotion is from now until 18 November 2012.

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and is the second largest city after Ho Chi Minh City and is steeped in history as it is over a century since its establishment. Due to this, Hanoi is also known as one of the main cultural centres of Vietnam.

The city also served as the capital of French Indochina during the colonial era between 1902 and 1954 and became the capital of North Vietnam until 1976. It was at the end of the Vietnam War, Hanoi was proclaimed as the capital city of Vietnam after North and South Vietnam was reunified.

AirAsia Berhad Commercial Director, Jasmine Lee said, “The increase of flight frequency for the Kuala Lumpur – Hanoi route is to provide our guests with further convenience and more choices of flights times to suit their schedule and travel preferences.

“The increased flight frequency also presents enhanced access for business and leisure travelers from Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi and vice versa especially as it is the second largest city of the country and serves as the main gateway to northern Vietnam. It has the potential to contribute to more growth in economic gains for both cities through healthier commerce and tourism activities.”

Hanoi is less hectic as compared to Ho Chi Minh City and travelers can easily explore the city on foot starting at Hoan Kiem Lake where its main feature, the famous red bridge will lead them to the Ngoc Son or Temple of Jade Mountain temple which lies on Jade Island on the northern shore of the lake.

One of the must see sites of Hanoi is Halong Bay, which is made up of over 3,000 limestone islets. Here, visitors can soak-up the scenery, explore caves and grottos which contain large stalactites and stalagmites as well as visit the fishing village or swim in the emerald green waters near the area.

Visitors can also head on to the French Quarters which serves as a reminder of the colonial era with Parisian style buildings and French villas. Here, visitors can enjoy a stroll through the wide tree-lined boulevards and enjoy the old school architecture and if tired, they can unwind and relax at one of many cafés as well as restaurants in the area.  

Apart from that, travellers can head north to Sapa which lies near the Chinese border. The picturesque town offers visitors rugged scenery which includes rice terraces and lush greenery where one can opt to trek on mountain trails or cycle around and meet the hill tribes of Vietnam such as the H’mongs, Daos and Muongs. In addition to Sapa, travellers can also go to other parts of northern Vietnam such as Son La and Bac Ha.
