VN arrivals dip 4%

HANOI, 8 November 2012: Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 495,576 international travellers in October representing a slight decline of 4.42% from 518,477 visits during the same month last year.

Thailand’s outbound trips to Vietnam ranked 10th with 18,130 visits increasing 18.65% from 15,280 visits during the same month in 2011.

China led the field as the top source market with 103,226 visits, but visits decreased 29.09% from 145,564 followed by South Korea, Japan, the United States, Taiwan, and Cambodia.

Neigbouring Cambodia was in sixth place supplying 24,187 visits, but down 37.65% from 38,795 during the same month last year.

All of the top markets are in Asia/Pacific region with the exception of the United States and France.

The bulk of arrivals in October (408,111) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Min City.

For January to October this year, international travellers showed an improvement of 10.73% from 5,348,731 visits compared to 4,830,604 visits during the same period last year.
