American Airlines continues to modernise its fleet, taking delivery of its first Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
The Boeing 777-300 extended range aircraft is the first of its kind to be delivered to a US airline, providing American Airlines with added network flexibility, efficiency and greater operating economics.
“This is an important step in demonstrating how American is focused on putting our customers at the centre of everything we do,” American Airlines chief commercial officer Virasb Vahidi said.
“We are especially pleased to be among the first in the industry to offer a combination of fully lie-flat seats with all-aisle access, international Wi-Fi, and state-of-the-art in- seat entertainment.”
This new aircraft will help transform American’s fleet “into one of the youngest and most fuel efficient in the industry,” Boeing senior vice president of global sales for commercial airplanes John Wojick said.
“The 777-300ER is an ideal airplane for American’s fleet renewal effort providing unparalleled operating economics, long-range capability, reliability and passenger comfort.”
The Dallas/Fort Worth-Sao Paulo route will be the first to feature the aircraft in late January 2013.
