Qantas has strengthened its ties with Asia by expanding its codeshare agreement with China Eastern Airlines.
Qantas will codeshare on China Eastern’s daily Melbourne-Shanghai services and on the three times per week Sydney-Nanjing Beijing service from the beginning of May 2013.
Qantas will also codeshare on China Eastern’s domestic Shanghai-Nanjing flights and continue to operate its own daily service from Sydney-Shanghai.
Australia’s national carrier began codesharing with China Eastern in 2008.
“We are building on our strong relationship with China Eastern to support growing corporate travel and tourism between Australia and China,” Qantas International manager China Andrew Hogg said.
“We said we would expand Qantas’ Asian network through our airline partnerships and we’re now delivering on that promise.”
Qantas plans to open new airport lounges in Singapore and Hong Kong later this year and will commence an A330 reconfiguration program, due late 2013.
