Taiwan airports remain on high alert, quarantining potentially-infected bird flu travellers.
The Ministry of the Interior has established a special response team to isolate any suspected bird flu disembarking passengers, Focus Taiwan reported.
“Immigration and aviation police officials at each airport in Taiwan will work to prevent the entrance and spread of the new H7N9 avian flu virus,” Taiwan interior minister Lee Hong-yuan said.
“Once the National Immigration Agency (NIA) receives notice of travellers entering from infected areas, it will cooperate with the team to step up quarantine measures at airports and seaports,” Mr Lee said.
Once the NIA has been notified of the entrance of a potentially infected traveller, they will keep track of the whereabouts of the passenger, including through contacts with his or her family abroad.
Taiwan has been on a heightened alert since its first human H7N9 case was confirmed on April 24.
Taiwan's Center for Disease Control has confirmed 120 cases of H7N9 in humans and 23 deaths.
