An Alaskan volcano underneath the flight path of jets passing between North America and Asia has erupted, forming an ash cloud 15,000 feet above sea level.
Cleveland Volcano exploded three times in quick succession last week, sending a plume of ash skyward, the Christian Science Monitor reported.
Commercial aircraft fly at 35,000 feet and therefore the explosion has not yet become a threat to air safety, according to scientific officials.
There have been no reported cancellations, although some flights were being re-routed farther north as a precaution, Reuters reported.
