Singapore Airlines takes cabin products into the Next Generation

 Singapore Airlines is taking the inflight experience into the future, with the launch of its Next Generation cabin products.
Unveiled this week, the airline has invested up to two years and nearly US$150 million to introduce a range of new products on board its aircraft, with the launch due in September on an initial eight Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and on the carrier’s Airbus A350 scheduled for delivery in the years ahead.
First Class passengers can expect to see a more modern and welcoming cabin, with each seat featuring a new fixed-back shell design with curve side panels to offer a clear demarcation of personal space, for added privacy.
Seating width will remain at 35 inches, while the bed length will increase from 80 to 82 inches and seats will also include a new entertainment switch for easier access to switch off the inflight entertainment system.
Changes to the Business Class includes greater seat recline at 132 degrees, new ergonomic seat cushions, the industry’s widest full-flat bed at 78 inches in length as well as a padded headboard cushion for enhanced comfort.
Passengers will also be able to choose from two new seating positions, including the ‘Lazy Z’ and ‘Sundeck’.
Stowage space has also increased in the Business Class cabins, with a new side console and a laptop stowage area, while seating will also include a new in-seat power supply, USB port, eXport and HDMI port.
Adjustment to Economy Class includes increased personal space and legroom, new backrest seat cushions with side bolsters for better back support.
The headrest cushion will also be replaced with a new ergonomically sculpted cushion for increased range of height adjustments.
The LCD-screen will also increase from 28 centimetres to 11.1-inches and feature an intelligent and unique touch-screen graphical user interface.
