XINING – The direct flight of Taiwan UNI Airways from Xining (Qinghai Province) to Taipei is one of the eight routes that are going to put into use this year between mainland China and Taiwan. With the opening of it, the length of the journey from Xining to Taipei will be only about 4 hours, which enhances dramatically the cross-strait cooperation on trade, culture as well as tourism sectors. It is reported that in recent years, Qinghai has achieved well-established relationship with Taiwan through its implementation of the opening-up strategy, as well as active interactions on trading and cultural communication. According to the statistics provided by the Exit-Entry Administration of Qinghai Province, since August 2010 when group travel to Taiwan was first allowed in the province, the institution has issued approximately 15,000 Taiwan Passes to local residents. On the other hand, Qinghai also welcomed about 10,000 tourists from Taiwan, and the numbers of both inbound and outbound travel cross-strait have been seen to increase steadily.
