Dhara Dhevi loses Mandarin

04 Sep 2013  2040 | World Travel News

Mandarin Oriental Hotel has withdrawn from the management of the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai effective 31 August.

In a press statement the international hotel chain said it was “proud to have established this resort as one of the best in Asia since it began managing the property in 2005.”

It added that the hotel owner and Mandarin Oriental had different aspirations for the property’s management and long-term development.

“As such, we have mutually agreed that Dhara Dhevi Hotel Company Limited will resume the management of the property with effect from close of business 31 August 2013,” the statement issued by the chain’s group communications office said.

The award winning resort hotel has since been renamed The Dhara Dhevi Hotel.

Apart from the departure of the general manager, who was hired by MOHG, all other staff including the sales team continue to be employed by the owning company.

It is understood the property owner is keen to add a condominium with possible time-share options and the change in the development direction did not fit well with MOHG’s objectives for properties it manages.
