SINGAPORE - Skyscanner, the world’s fastest growing global travel search site, has been named winner of the ‘Absolute Mobile’ award at the 2013 Web in Travel conference in Singapore.

The award is given to “the company which has most brilliantly used the mobile device to engage with customers, whether pre-trip, in-destination or post-trip, and to inform, inspire and transact.” The Web in Travel conference in Singapore is the premier event of its kind in Asia and attracts delegates from travel and technology based companies around the world.

Skyscanner Co-founder Bonamy Grimes was on hand to collect the award, presented by Adobe, as well as speaking on several panels at the conference.

Skyscanner’s free mobile apps have been downloaded over 25 million times worldwide and are available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Windows 8 and BlackBerry.

The company opened its first office in Singapore in late 2011, followed by the opening of an office in Beijing in October 2012. Traffic to the Skyscanner site and apps has risen from 7% of global traffic in 2012 to around 20% in 2013. This equates to around 5 million users per month using Skyscanner in Asia Pacific with the figure growing rapidly each month.

Skyscanner Asia Pacific General Manager Andy Sleigh said: “We’re delighted to receive recognition for delivering the best mobile flight search experience to users in Asia Pacific. We’ve seen our mobile traffic increase considerably over the past 12 months and look forward to continuing to improve our mobile product across all platforms.”
