HONG KONG - Coinciding with the company’s 15th anniversary, Plaza Premium Lounge has entered a new era with the opening of their flagship lounge at Hong Kong International Airport. Centrally located in the airport’s West Hall and measuring 15,000 ft², the expansive 24-hour retreat will be the largest pay-in lounge in Asia.

A Distinctive Design

Engaging guests from the start, the new lounge’s entrance and PPL logo are visible from the walkway. The lounge, designed by Kinney Chan of Kinney Chan & Associates, is divided into several zones to provide travellers with multiple experiences and choices while at the lounge.  Beyond the well-lit reception area, guests enter the main lounge and are greeted by a variety of seating configurations and a sleek, sophisticated design.

Catering to single travellers, couples and large parties, guests can choose to take a seat at one of the booths, share a communal table or appreciate the panoramic view of the runway from one of the bar stools. While the neutral palette conveys warmth, the designers have taken full advantage of the full-length windows, inviting an abundance of natural light into the space.

Each area fulfils a different purpose – relaxing, dining or working – and is designed accordingly. While the lounge and bar areas feature soft lighting, hushed tones and subtle textures to create a mood of quiet calm, the dining spaces engage guests with their open kitchens, bold colours and tempting food displays. At the fully-equipped working station, executives can stay connected with the lounge’s free Wi-Fi, charge up their devices in one of the many power sockets, complete a transaction at the private workstations while enjoying the panoramic view of the airport runway.

Embark on a culinary journey

Plaza Premium Lounge also introduces a new dining concept in the West Hall Lounge with the launch of The Market Place. Catering to discerning diners with an appetite for variety, The Market Place comprises a range of food and beverage stalls, from a tea station serving Chinese milk tea and artisan, to a salad bar serving a range of healthy food options, to a Noodle Bar serving its signature Hong Kong-style fish ball noodles, steamed rice rolls and steamed dim sum. A feast for the senses, it is designed so that guests can interact with chefs at the various food stations and indulge in a selection of Hong Kong delicacies.

Interactivity is at the heart of the food concept. In the exclusive bar area, The Hub, together with the wine dispenser, hot and cold tapas will be served daily, this includes croquettes, daily soups, mezza platters etc. Providing an exceptional dining experience, first class guest can enjoy an a la carte menu, in the menu the slow-cooked rack of lamb roasted with Himalayan salt and rosemary with a side serving of thin-cut roast potatoes is in the spotlight.

PPL will provide around-the-clock dining options. Each evening guests can look forward to a selection of hot and cold tapas served in the two bars, complemented with a selection of wines.

Wine connoisseurs can indulge in a range of wines from around the world via a newly introduced self-serve wine dispenser. Ensuring that guests can sample a broad variety, the menu will be regularly updated, each time the focus changing to a specific country or region.

Enticing and exclusive extras

Customised features – from the designer furniture to the unique lighting – contribute to the sense of exclusivity and bespoke comfort. The honeycomb-styled chairs, a highlight of the lounge, provide individual booth-like spaces, giving users a private area to engage in a quiet Skype chat or confidential phone call.

Intimate clusters of plush lounge chairs create a relaxing environment, while reclining chairs are strategically placed throughout the lounge, offering guests the chance to observe airport activities through the full-length wraparound balcony windows.

Visitors preparing for a long-haul flight or transit passengers can freshen up in one of the two showers, each one stocked with organic Jasmin Aromatique products from Australia.

“The opening of the West Hall Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport marks a new chapter for Plaza Premium Lounge,” notes Mr Song Hoi-See, Founder & CEO of Plaza Premium Lounge Management Limited. “For 15 years, our company has been enhancing the airport experience for passengers. In designing this flagship lounge, we continue to innovate the airport environment. To create this lounge we focused on enhancing the ambience, service, facilities and food and beverage offerings to create the ultimate airport retreat.”

Lounge use around the world
