January 2014 Asia Pacific pipeline

LONDON — The Asia Pacific hotel development pipeline comprises 2,063 hotels totalling 455,573 rooms, according to the January 2014 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report. The total active pipeline data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Pre-Planning stage.

Among the countries in the region, China reported the most rooms under construction with 144,954 in 481 hotels. Five other countries reported more than 5,000 rooms under construction: India (189 hotels with 31,073 rooms); Indonesia (149 hotels with 23,778 rooms); Malaysia (39 hotels with 10,010 rooms); Philippines (35 hotels with 8,324 rooms); and Thailand (34 hotels with 5,450 rooms).
